Topic of Campaign: Water Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools
Hope Spring Water WaSH campaign in North-central region took place in four different schools in Kogi State, Nigeria. The event kicked off on the 3rd of March, 2017 at Ajaokutaa Steel Company Limited (ASCL) Staff Secondary School III and ended on the 9th of March with students and teachers of ASCL Staff Primary School III, Kogi State, Nigeria.
WaSH Orientation session was held in each school with the help of teachers of the different schools, who were mobilised as volunteers of Hope Spring Water. Each campaign started with the introduction of Hope Spring Water as a WaSH focused organization, working to end water poverty in Africa. The pupils, students and teachers were then introduced to the topic of the campaign, which is water, sanitation and hygiene in schools.
The participants were engaged through a question and answer session and this made the sessions very interactive. The participants that answered the questions correctly were given writing materials as a reward. Finally, the concept of WaSH club was discussed with the participants and teachers selected to coordinate the activities of the WaSH club in their different schools. The teachers were enthusiastic about the idea and looked forward to further engagements and update on the establishment of the WaSH club.
